The EnIM – National Meeting for Music Research has been one of SPIM’s most visible and prominent activities.

On this occasion, dozens of national and international researchers come together to present and discuss their work within a community that is primarily — though not exclusively — academic.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The Portuguese Society for Music Research invites the submission of proposals for EnIM 26 | 15th Meeting on Music Research, which will take place at the Royal Building of Mafra, from 4 to 6 November 2026.

The event will feature keynote speakers:

  • (To be announced)
  • (To be announced)

Given the current complexity of the disciplinary landscape in music research and practice, the 15th Meeting on Music Research presents itself as a multi- and interdisciplinary meeting space. Proposals and discussions should consider the diversity and intellectual richness of this community. In contrast to highly specialized academic events, EnIM aims to provide a privileged platform for scientific and artistic communication in building a broad and demanding field of music and sound research.

SPIM invites original proposals for oral presentation, covering all relevant topics in music and sound research. Proposals should consider their relevance to a multidisciplinary community and follow one of the formats below:

(1) papers (individual/collaborative);
(2) panels organized around a topic or problem;
(3) lecture-performances;
(4) workshops.

All proposals must be submitted via the CMT platform (available soon).

Accepted proposals from doctoral and master’s students are eligible for the Joaquim de Vasconcelos Award 2026, provided the authors attend and present their work.

Proposals must be submitted by 20 July 2026, following the formats below:

Paper (individual/collaborative): 300–400 words and 3–5 keywords. Maximum duration of 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of discussion. Proposals must present original and current research, clearly stating context, research questions, objectives, results, and scientific relevance.

Panel: panel overview (300–400 words, 5 keywords) plus individual paper proposals. Panels (3–4 speakers) must not exceed 90 minutes, including discussion. Proposals must present original research with clear framing and relevance.

Lecture-performance: 300–400 words and 3–5 keywords. Proposals must integrate reflection and performance, rather than treating them separately. Maximum duration of 20 minutes plus 10 minutes discussion. Musical instruments must be provided by the presenters.

Workshop: 300–400 words and 3–5 keywords. Maximum duration of 2.5 hours. Proposals should describe context, objectives, structure, target audience, and participant limits. Required materials must be specified and are subject to feasibility.
